At the top of the "Montagne du Roule" stands this Second Empire fort with a view of the harbour. Opened in 1954 and completely renovated in 1994, this was the first Liberation Museum to be opened and it will further benefit from new additions in 2004. Various reconstructions, including numerous audio-visual displays, take us from the Shadows of the Occupation to the Lights of the D-Day Landing.
