Objective - a port
(source :
Historical area of the Battle of Normandy)
In order to bring supplies to
the troops ashore, the Allies had one vital need, a deep water harbour.
The prime objective of the US troops on Utah Beach and around
Sainte-Mère-Eglise was to capture the port of Cherbourg. The "Objectif - un
port" circuit takes you through the sites, along the path taken by General
Collins and VII Corps on their way to Cherbourg. |
