The purpose of the naval battery at Vasouy was to defend the mouth of the Seine. It comprised four 150-mm guns housed in casemates, controlled from a range-finding post.

         Some distance from the landing zone, it did not play any part in the battle and was abandoned by its garrison at the end of July, after its guns and range-finding instruments had been destroyed.
