The mausoleum at Mont-d’Huisnes was erected near the Bay of Mont St Michel, on a hill rising some thirty metres high. It was designed to hold the remains of 11,956 German soldiers, which were brought here after being exhumed in 1961.

The ossuary consists of a two-storey cylindrical building with 68 crypts, each containing 180 bodies.
