Built
near the German cemetery, the British cemetery at Saint-Désir contains
598 graves, including those of 16 Canadians, 6 Australians,
5 South Africans, 1 New Zealander and 1 American.
Most of these men were killed in August 1944,
during the German retreat towards the Seine and the liberation of the
Pays d’Auge.
